Colonial Thanksgiving Dinner – 2019

On Sunday, November 10, 2019, our eighth Colonial Thanksgiving Dinner was held at The Webb Barn. The much-anticipated event hosted 100 guests this year. The Bill of Fare for the holiday feast was developed by a food historian based on traditional old New England recipes, featuring food that was popular in Connecticut in the late 18th century.

Guests gathered at 12 noon for a mid-day reception in a heated tent on the Barn patio. At 12:45 p.m., the dinner bell rang and guests were seated in the Barn for a delicious feast served “family style” and prepared by J. Restaurant/Bar in Hartford. Tours of the Museum followed.

Eric D. Lehman and Amy Nawrocki, authors of A History of Connecticut Food and A History of Connecticut Wine, were with us this year to provide a brief and entertaining presentation on the menu items and Connecticut Thanksgivings in the past.
