Connecticut Dames Visit New Hampshire

In June 2026, five Connecticut Dames—Gay Ayers, Gail Faherty, Leslie Greene, Linda Mead, and Sally Kernan—enjoyed a day trip to Walpole and Cornish, New Hampshire.

The group began with lunch at Burdick’s Restaurant in Walpole, where they were delighted to spot acclaimed filmmaker Ken Burns taking a break from nearby Florentine Films. “I got to chat with him and loved that he was wearing his American Revolution sweatshirt,” recalled Gay Ayers.

After lunch, the group visited the flagship L.A. Burdick Chocolate Shop, known for its exceptional handmade chocolates, before continuing north to the Saint-Gaudens National Historical Park in Cornish. There they explored Aspet, the former home and studio of renowned sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens, named for his father’s village in the Pyrenees. The group enjoyed the beautiful gardens, historic buildings, sculptures, and landscapes that reflect the area’s rich artistic heritage.
