Join us for what promises to be a riveting exploration of loyalty, ambition, reputation, and Revolutionary America through the lens of one of its most intriguing—and controversial—women.
Traitor, Wife: Peggy Shippen Arnold and Revolutionary America: In an exclusive preview of this compelling biography, Dr. Charlene Boyer Lewis reexamines the life of Margaret “Peggy” Shippen Arnold—far more than simply the wife of Benedict Arnold. Moving beyond the infamous moment of treason, the book explores Peggy Shippen Arnold’s life before and after the Revolution, as well as the reactions to her actions on both sides of the Atlantic (to be published by Norton early 2027).
About Charlene Boyer Lewis: Boyer Lewis currently serves as a named chair in the History Department at Kalamazoo College (MI). She specializes in women’s history, family history, and American cultural and social history in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. A sought-after scholar and public historian, Boyer Lewis is also co-editor of The Women in George Washington’s World. She will be featured on the A&E Network series History’s Mysteries with Laurence Fishburne in 2027. Boyer Lewis received a PhD in American History from The University of Virginia.
We look forward to seeing you!
